List of Time and Money Saving Apps
Do you wish you had more time?
How about more money?
Well, you’re in luck!
Since Apple completely transformed the way we live our daily lives a few years ago by introducing this little thing called the iPhone, there is no shortage of time and money saving apps out there for the smartphone enthusiast (over 900,000 total apps on Apple’s App Store according to a recent USA Today article).
That’s all well and good, however, knowing where to start when looking for time and money saving apps can be a real challenge.
But, have no fear!
I’ve created a short list of time and money saving apps, many of which you probably don’t use, but should!
Although I’m an iPhone user myself, most of these time and money saving apps are also available for Android users on the Google Play Store (although there may be slight differences in functionality).
So, without further ado, here are six of my favorite time and money saving apps:
1. Evernote
Because an elephant never forgets
Evernote is one of the most powerful time and money saving apps and productivity tools out there.
Here are just some of the tasks you can do with Evernote…
- Type a note
- Store documents
- Record audio
- Develop an agenda for your next meeting
- Capture a photograph
- Make a to-do list
- Plan your next trip
- And so much more!
Everything syncs across all of your devices and you can even access your Evernote account via the web so no matter where you check your account (iPhone, iPad, desktop, laptop, etc), it will always be up to do date.
This short paragraph really doesn’t do this app justice, so download the app, sign up for an account, and check out the Evernote “Getting Started Guide” here.
The best part…the basic version is absolutely free!
2. HootSuite
Manage all your social media accounts in one place
Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn…it’s all a little overwhelming if you ask me!
Shortly after I started using social media for my business, though, I discovered HootSuite.
This is one of a few time and money saving apps that allows you to manage all of your social media accounts and profiles from one dashboard and in one place.
The feature I like best is the ability to schedule status updates. Obviously geared more towards the business user, it allows you to input what you want to share with your followers and schedule when you want to share it!
Just because you’re busy or on vacation, doesn’t mean your business and social media campaigns should stop running!
Check out the HootSuite app in Apple’s App Store here. You’ll have to sign up for an account to use it, but the basic version is free and it’s all most small business owners and individuals will ever need!
3. Mvelopes
Track your spending on the go
If you’ve always dreaded budgeting because you said it was too hard and took too much time, you no longer have an excuse!
Mvelopes is an online budgeting service that is a digital version of the old envelope budgeting system (get it–Mvelopes?) where you put physical cash into a designated spending envelope each month when you got paid.
Once the cash in that envelope ran out, you either had to stop spending or transfer money from an envelope that had cash to the envelope that didn’t have cash.
But who carries cash anymore?
Enter Mvelopes.
Linked to your checking, saving, and investment accounts, you can track expenses, manage accounts, and pay bills all with the swipe of a finger on your phone. You can even take a picture of your receipt and attach it to a transaction for safekeeping!
As with the previous two apps, the basic version is absolutely free. Download the Mvelopes app here and visit their website to sign up for a free account!
4. GasBuddy
Find the cheapest gas near your current location.
See the gas prices at gas stations around town, pick the cheapest one, fill up your car, and be on your way.
Enough said.
Download it here for the iPhone or iPad.
5. American Red Cross App(s)
DIY first aid and emergency preparation
You might be asking yourself, “How is the American Red Cross going to save me time and money?”
By saving your life and making sure you’re prepared for when disaster strikes, that’s how!
Learn how to prepare for a twister or hurricane, learn how to deal with first aid emergencies like a broken bone, and even get “blaze alerts” when a new wildfire occurs in your area.
Technically, you’ll have to download multiple apps to get all these features, but you might as well download them all so you’ll be prepared the next time disaster strikes!
Did I mention they even offer an app that performs CPR on someone if you hold the power button down for 5 seconds while touching your iPhone to their lips?
Just kidding (that feature is still in beta testing ;)).
Visit the American Red Cross website to get more info on all of their time and money saving apps.
6. AgingBooth
Look old, save money
Do you want to see what you might look like in 30 or 40 years? Then this app is for you!
Snap a picture of your face and let the app work its magic.
How is this a time and money saving app?
In some recent research studies, seeing an age-progressed photograph of what you might look like in the future has proven to increase the amount of money you put away for retirement savings by almost double your current amount.
Considering the average American currently saves 4.4% of their income while most experts recommend saving at least 10% of your income, I would say we need to take a long hard look and ask our future self what “they” would want us to save.
Get started by downloading the AgingBooth app today (this app does cost 99 cents, but I think it’s well worth the investment!)
That’s it…
Well, there you have it! Six time and money saving apps you need right now!.
